Gem Show, 2011–American Indian Exposition

The American Indian Exposition is an official gem show event featuring different artists every three to seven days. 50 demonstrating American Indian artists, including Kachina carvers, Huichol beadwork, silversmiths, design pillows, basket weaving and traditional foods. 187 tribal nations represented. Note that this exhibition/sale runs each year from the last Sunday in January to February 14. Note again that different artists will show up every few days, so you might want to come again and again. To my eye, there is nothing lovelier than Native American jewelry. If you think so too, this is your stop.

At this exhibit, you will see a collection display of turquoise and European glass beads.

Native American Dancers at pool side on the weekends. Music jam festival on Sundays. Open to the public, and the cost is $1. Can’t beat that for cheap!

• When: Exhibition begins Sunday, January 30, 2011, from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The show runs through Monday, February 14, 2011. Regular hours: Sundays-Thursdays from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM; On Fridays and Saturdays, from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m.
