Cheap Oil Change at Meineke

Posted on | October 19, 2009 | 4 Comments

I was driving down Oracle when I happened to see a sign announcing an oil change for $9.99 at Mienke. When I called, the gentleman assured me this was true. A couple of things to know: the $9.99 price is good only for cars taking 10W30 oil (there are some other types of oil, I hear). Also with this deal, you will get up to five quarts of Chevron oil.

You don’t need an appointment. This is the best price I’ve seen in town for an oil change (excpet for one a couple of months ago for $5. Haven’t seen anything like that since then.)

Where: Mienke Car Care Center

  • 3332, N. Oracle Rd. Tucson, AZ 85705 (520) 293-7796
  • 6905 E. Broadway Blvd. Tucson, AZ 85710 (520) 298-5500 (Broadway & Kolb)

When: Monday-Saturday 7:00 PM -6:00 PM I asked when this deal would expire and both shops said the sale would go on indefinitely . . . but not necessarily forever. Call to check.

How much: $9.99 if you have a car that needs 10W30. Otherwise, the price will be higher. Call to ask.

My car’s too new for the $9.99, but I’ll still get a decent price. Thanks!

Hey, Theda, you’re welcome! I was just thrilled when I saw the deal. Btw, there is a third Mieneke’s in town (on Speedway, I think). That one is not owned by the same people, but they MIGHT give a deal if you call and ask. Last week, when I called to check they said they would meet the $10 price . . . but only through last Friday. Still, if anyone lives close to that one, it’s worth a call to ask.

I don’t know about the Meineke on Oracle, but the one on Speedway will charge you over twice the advertised price because they charge more for anything but 10W30 oil, they charge for “shop supplies”, they charge for recycling the oil, they add things to the invoice that you didn’t order, and they add things up incorrectly. If you check your bill very carefully, and argue about it, you might get an oil change for $25. Then they get grease all over your seats and carpeting, and (if you ask them for a “free” tire rotation) break your hubcaps. Better to pay a bit more at a reliable shop.

Thanks, Carl. You are right to point out that it’s wise to check in advance to find out what is and what is not covered. I hate to be cheated.

We post deals as we find them. But you know the drill: prices and promotions are subject to change at any time and without notice. Sometimes the information we receive isn't acccurate, although we try to check every deal. And sometimes we make mistakes. It's up to you to check. It is always wise to call first to see if a bargain is still available.
