The Old Pueblo Archaeology Center’s “Third Thursday Food for Thought” presentation this Thursday will cover “Greening Mission Garden: the Archaeology, History, and Future of Tucson’s Heartplace.”

In this special presentation, archaeologist Homer Thiel and historian Diana Hadley will review the archaeological excavations at the San Agustin Mission and Mission Gardens (which have documented about 4,000 years of occupation), will describe how the historic San Agustin mission garden was used during the Spanish Colonial, Mexican, and Territorial periods of its long history, and will discuss current efforts to protect, restore, rehabilitate, and reconstruct the historic resources at the site known as Tucson’s Birthplace.
