July 4 Dining Specials

Specials for July 4, 2009 Some cheap, some not so cheap (but ALL are excellent values):

Maynard’s Market will fire up the pots and hold a . . . clam boil (btw, this is a New England-style clam bake with all the fixin’s). Fresh clams, stone crab claws, corn, taters, slaw, blueberry pie etc. Add $15 and get half a grilled lobster. Basic meal is $25/person. Live music at 6:00 PM. Pie-eating contest (no extra charge) at 8:00 PM. Watch the fireworks show at 9:00 PM. (520) 545-0577. You need reservations.I would call right now. You also need reservations for the pie-eating contest so they know how many pies to bake.

El Parador will be happy to serve you barbecued chicken (2 pieces), potato salad, and beans for $8.95, plus good food from their regular menu. Served from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM (520) 881-2744.

Magpies Gourmet Pizza offers 2 medium-sized pizzas (2 toppings) for $20 OR you can buy 2 large pizzas (1 topping) for $22. Good at all five Tucson locations. They open at 11:00 AM and close at 11:00 PM.

Janos & J-Bar plan a BIG buffet (I counted over 20 dishes) and entertainment from country-western singer Bill Ganz; also magic by Steve Ehlers and (my favorite) an Elvis impersonator, Freddy G. Adults pay $29.95; kids 12 and under pay $14.95. This doesn’t include tax and tip. Reservations recommended. Starts at 5:30 PM (520) 615-6100.

Anthony’s in the Catalinas is serving up their special summer four-course dinner (with wine) for two. $79.95. GREAT fireworks views. Reservations advised. (520) 299-1771.
