Wednesday Special at Desert Rain Cafe
Posted on | October 20, 2009 | No Comments
Earlier this year, I posted a review about the Desert Rain Cafe over in Sells, Arizona. It’s a relatively new (opened in spring of 2009) cafe on the Tohono O’odham reservation. My husband and I drove out and enjoyed our lunch enormously.
What’s new is a wonderful Wednesday special. They make a prickly pear glazed pork rib dish on Wednesdays every week. The pork ribs come with cornbread and brown tepary beans cooked with onions and spices. They make their own glaze with unsweetened pp nectar and agave syrup. The tepary beans are grown on their own farm and are one of the indigenous foods of the Tohono O’odham.
