Tohono Village Artists Appreciation Day
Posted on | December 9, 2009 | No Comments
Here’s a nice weekend event, down in Tubac. Tohono Village will host “Artist Appreciation Day.” Native artists will be displaying their wonderful artwork in the Tohono Village courtyard. They will be happy to talk about their unique craft and you can buy directly from the artists.
I called to check on this event and learned that one of the highlights is a gentleman by the name of Ramson Lomatewama, who is a Hopi glass blower. He is bringing his portable kiln and will demonstrate his craft and speak about his art and the Hopi culture. There will be jewelers, sculptors, sand painters–lots of great Native American art (Hopi, Navajo, Zuni) that you can either look at or buy. You will be able to buy great fry bread.
