David Tineo is one of Tucson’s premier muralists, and there are several FREE events this month to celebrate this artist. One is on Friday. Actually, it’s a two-parter, and both take place at El Rio Branch Library.

On Friday afternoon, join presenter Sandy Yarwood of Kidzart.¬† Families will learn about murals and and create their own. There will be information about the tradition and art of murals. This is part of the library’s Nuestras Raices: Celebrating Mexican-American Authors, Arts and Culture program. This part of Friday’s activities will be held between 4:30pm – 6:00pm and will be in English and Spanish.

After the family event, join David Tineo for a walking tour of the murals he created with children living in the El Rio Neighborhood. This starts at 6:00 PM.

This event is held in conjunction with the exhibit, ¬°Viva Tineo! A Retrospective of Tucson’s Muralist and Art Educator, on display at the Tucson Museum of Art from Saturday, Feb. 27 through July 3.
